HUMMELSTOWN, Pa. (Aug. 5, 2013) – Break out your mirror ball, leisure suit and “Kung Fu Fighting” eight-track tape.

Disco is back – and so is the East Petersburg Day 5K race after a 10-year absence.

Drayer Physical Therapy Institute, which has an outpatient physical therapy center in East Petersburg, and Wee Care Day School are sponsoring the 1970s-themed “Disco Dash.”

The race, preceded by a kids fun run and followed by the East Pete Day parade and family-friendly activities, will take place on Sept. 21.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of bringing back the 5K,” said Ryan Grube, a Drayer area manager. “East Petersburg Day is a terrific community event, and the race is a great way for Drayer and Wee Care Day School to promote a healthy community, which is what we’re all about.”

Disco Dash isn’t just a name; the hope is that runners will embody the disco era in the way they dress. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest male and female in each age group – and for the best 1970s outfit.

The cost is $10 for the fun run, which starts at 8 a.m., and $20 for the 5K, which begins at 9:15 a.m. For runners in groups of five or more, the cost is $15 per runner.

Proceeds will benefit the East Petersburg Day Events Committee.
